Eight Negros Occidental provincial government employees tested positive for the use of drugs, while 20 others will be subjected to confirmatory tests, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said Tuesday night, Dec. 12.

Diaz said seven tested positive for the use of shabu and one for the use of marijuana.

The results of 20 others were ”grey” so they will be subjected to confirmatory tests, he said.

He said 2,300 of the more than 3,000 Negros Occidental provincial government officials and employees led by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson underwent drug tests on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 11 and 12.

They may not have enough test kits for the employees of the provincial government hospitals so they will have to make another purchase order, he said.

The hospital employees were initially set for testing on Friday, Dec. 15.

The testing covered elected officials, department heads, regular employees, and casuals, contract of service and job order workers.*
