Negros Occidental gubernatorial bet John Orola has the support of President Rodrigo Duterte, Glen Badon, Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS) national executive director and secretary general, said Monday, April 18.
“I can personally and categorically say that he has the support of President Duterte” in his bid for governor, Badon said.
Orola, a former Bacolod representative and city administrator, is running against incumbent Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson of the Nationalist People’s Coalition.
Badon said he was in Negros Occidental Monday to campaign for Orola and PDDS senatorial bet Greco Belgica.
Belgica is a pastor and chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission, he said.
“We believe in John Orola’s leadership,” Badon said. Their party supports candidates who can be trusted and are committed to serve the people efficiently and effectively, Badon also said.
“For us he is a winner already, it is now up to the people of Negros Occidental to respond”, he said.
Badon said they are negotiating for the Yanson family’s support for the gubernatorial bid of Orola. They are talking with Olivia Yanson, Badon said.
Orola said he is thankful for whatever support is given to him.
However, contrary to what the media has said, he has not asked for the endorsement and support of the Yanson family, it is up to them to decide, Orola added.
“I decided to run because it is my own conviction and my own advocacy, not of the Yanson,” he said
He is thankful for the trust and confidence in him of the president and of Badon, Orola added.
Orola said he has been well received during his campaign sorties. My advocacy is for change in government and to bring new opportunities for the people of Negros Occidental, he said.
PDDS also supports Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for president and Sara Duterte for vice president, Badon said.
But Duterte has not announced his candidate for president, he added.*
