The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has allotted P240 million for Bacolod residents whose houses were destroyed and damaged by Typhoon “Tino”, to be distributed in two tranches, Mayor Greg Gasataya said on Wednesday, Dec. 10.

The DSWD will begin distributing an initial P114.9 million to residents whose houses were destroyed and damaged starting Saturday, Gasataya said.

The 3,430 families whose houses were totally destroyed will be prioritized to be the first to immediately receive assistance, he said.

The DSWD will distribute P10,325 each to the 3,430 families starting Saturday, for a total of P35.4 million.

There are 40,000-plus Bacolod residents whose houses were damaged, the mayor said.

The DSWD will distribute P5,369 each to 14,823 families whose houses were damaged, for a total of P79.5 million, starting Saturday.

The remaining P125.1 million will be distributed in early January to the rest of the residents whose houses were damaged, Gasataya added.

Those whose houses were damaged in Barangays 1 to Felisa will receive their payouts starting Saturday, and those from Barangays Granada to Vista Alegre in early January, Gasataya said.*
