A 28-year-old man was arrested after he was shot by the police during a buy-bust operation in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, late Friday night, March 27.
The police identified the suspect as Elvic Dela Pieza, tagged as a street-level individual.
Authorities said the suspect sold suspected shabu to a poseur-buyer at around 11:36 p.m. in Brgy. II.
During the operation, the suspect allegedly drew a firearm and posed an imminent threat to the police.
A policeman then fired his service firearm, hitting the suspect in the leg and subduing him.
Recovered from his possession were around 2.5 grams of suspected shabu worth P17,000, a .45 caliber pistol with ammunition, buy-bust money, and drug paraphernalia.
The suspect was brought to a medical facility for treatment before being placed under police custody.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 and Republic Act 10591 are being prepared.*
