Driver killed, 1 injured in Victorias accident

A driver died and his passenger was injured when the tricycle he was driving was accidentally bumped by a Ceres bus along the highway in Brgy. 13, Victorias City, Negros Occidental, 2:50 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, the police reported.

Killed was Elf Sanipa, 25, from Brgy. 10, and injured was Jenalyn Navarro, 29, from Brgy. Vista Alegre in Bacolod City,

The tricycle was traveling from south to north when it malfunctioned, the police said.

The vehicle then swerved to the left side of the highway encroaching on the lane of the Ceres bus driven by Lemuel Fajardo, 49, of Brgy. Bug-ang, Toboso town.

When the tricycle swerved, the Ceres bus accidentally bumped the rear of the tricycle resulting to the death of Sanipa and injury of Navarro, the police said.

The passenger of the tricycle was brought to Corazon Locsin Montilebano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City for further treatment.

Both vehicles involved were impounded for proper disposition and the driver was temporarily detained at the Victorias Police Station.*
