A drinking session turned violent after two men stabbed each other, resulting in one dead and another injured in Brgy. Agboy, Candoni, Negros Occidental, on Tuesday evening, July 29.

Lt. Gilbert Alunan, Candoni Deputy Police Chief, said that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding during a drinking spree at the residence of a certain Pacifico Calad at Purok Mahogany, Brgy. Agboy.

The 50-year-old victim, a farmer and resident of Brgy. Agboy, was allegedly punched by the 35-year-old suspect, a laborer from Brgy. Carabalan, Himamaylan City, during their argument.

Following the initial scuffle, the victim left the gathering and returned armed with a bladed weapon.

He then stabbed the suspect multiple times.

Despite being wounded, the suspect managed to wrest the weapon away and stabbed the victim in return, also hitting him in various parts of his body.

Both men were rushed to separate medical facilities.

The victim was declared dead at a local hospital, while the suspect is currently undergoing treatment at the Candoni Rural Health Unit under police custody.
