The Department of Public Works and Highways has allocated P78 million for three more hospital off-site dormitories and three quarantine facilities to boost the fight against COVID-19 in four cities in Negros Occidental, DPHW Regional Director Lea Delfinado said today, December 30.
The DPWH turned over a P13.5 million off-site dormitory to the Lorenzo B. Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City this month to serve as a temporary home for medical professionals and frontliners offering healthcare services to COVID-19 patients, she said.
Two other off-site dormitories worth P13.5 million each will be turned over to the Cadiz District Hospital in Cadiz City and the Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital in La Carlota City in January, Delfinado added.
Each off-site dormitory with a 253 square meter floor area has 16 rooms with a 32- bed capacity, a DPWH briefer said.
The rooms are furnished with double-deck beds, have individual comfort rooms, and are fully air-conditioned, it added.
Each dormitory also has a kitchen furnished with an electric stove, microwave, and refrigerators, a laundry area with washing machines, and a lounge with a television, the DPWH said.
Meanwhile, three COVID-19 quarantine facilities worth P12.5 million each are also being built by the DPWH, Delfinado said.
Two are located in Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City, and one in Barangay Tabugon, Kabankalan City, she said.
In October, the DPWH also turned over P52 million in COVID-19 facilities in Bacolod and Silay cities.
They were quarantine and isolation facilities in Barangay Alijis and a dormitory at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City, and another dormitory at the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City.*
