DOT secretary leads groundbreaking of P80M hyperbaric chamber in Dauin

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco led the groundbreaking of a P80 million Hyperbaric Chamber Center in Dauin, Negros Oriental, on Monday, Feb. 3.

The hyperbaric chamber center aims to enhance the safety and convenience of scuba divers in the region, a press release from the Negros Oriental Information Office said.

The construction of the facility will be funded by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Authority.

The groundbreaking ceremony was also attended by Neg. Or. Governor Manuel “Chaco” Sagarbarria and Dauin Mayor Galicano Truita.

“The establishment of this hyperbaric chamber signifies an important advancement in emergency medical services for divers who may face decompression sickness or other related ailments”, the press release said.

Individuals requiring urgent treatment have to travel a considerable distances to access suitable facilities, which could compromise their health outcomes.

The facility is expected to be operation within three months after the groundbreaking.*
