The Bureau of Labor Relations of the Department of Labor and Employment in a final judgment has declared Marbie Cabardo as the lawful vice president and acting president of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative Union of Rational Employees (CURE).
In a 357-page resolution of DOLE-BLR on January 5 said that it denied the petition to declare Cabardo as CURE president and the general assembly made by the previous union president as invalid.
It said that the removal of Cabardo as a union member is a “mere afterthought” in as much as it was only raised in the motion for reconsideration.
“Cabardo’s removal as union member speaks of ill will in order to defeat our finding that Cabardo was removed as union officer without procedural and substantive due process”, the resolution said.
On August 2023, DOLE affirmed the partial appeal of Cabardo while denying the motion for reconsideration filed by CURE.
With this, it reinstated Cabardo as vice president of CURE and she will perform the responsibilities of acting president until a union president has been elected.
It also said that a special local election to fill up the position of union president will be conducted and will be supervised by DOLE.*
