DOH: Stay safe on Holy Week

The public is reminded to remain safe amidst the potential health risks during the observance of Holy Week, Dr. Adriano Suba-an, Department of Health Western Visayas regional director, said Tuesday, April 4.

Suba-an stressed the need to stay hydrated with the intense summer heat.

Bring water and drink at least eight glasses of water a day to avoid dehydration, he said.

Protect skin from sunburn due to too much exposure to the sun by using an umbrella, wide brim hats and sunscreen protection, he added.

He also stressed the need to prevent the risk of heat stroke by avoiding exposure to direct sun and heat, especially during noon time and afternoon.

Always bring your maintenance medicines, as well as face towel, extra clothing, alcohol or hand sanitizer, Suba-an said.

Members of the vulnerable group such as the elderly, the immunocompromised, and pregnant women are encouraged to stay home, he also said.

Suba-an also reiterated the need to wear a face mask, especially when in crowded or enclosed spaces.

“Be cautious of your surroundings and know the nearest first aid station situated in your area for any emergency,” he said.

“May this Lenten season be a time to reflect and an opportunity to grow closer to God,” Suba-an also stressed.*
