DOH seeks permission to integrate Sipalay hospital as CLMMRH Annex

The Department of Health (DOH) is requesting Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson to allow the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) to operate the Merceditas J. Montilla District Hospital (MJMDH) in Sipalay City as an annex facility.

Lacson, on Wednesday, March 18, said he would give the proposal serious thought. “Initially, I think it’s a good idea,” he said.

Dr. Razel Nikka Hao, DOH Negros Island Region director, explained in a letter to Lacson that the proposed arrangement aims to strengthen hospital service delivery in the province—especially in Sipalay City—through a collaborative approach.

This move would improve access to essential medical care and help decongest existing hospital facilities, she said.

It would also enable the establishment of a Psychiatric Unit to address the increasing need for accessible and structured mental health services in the province and nearby areas.

“The integration of MJMDH as an annex of CLMMRH is envisioned to maximize the utilization of existing government health infrastructure, expand service capacity particularly in mental health care, enhance quality of care through technical supervision and standards aligned with DOH-retained hospital systems, and improve referral pathways within the local health care network,” Hao said.

Hao asked Lacson for his approval to conduct a joint technical review and exploratory discussions between the provincial government, MJMDH management, CLMMRH, and DOH representatives to assess the operational, administrative, and legal considerations for the proposal.

Meanwhile, Lacson led the  turnover of nine  ambulances to each of the provincial  government-run hospitals at  the Capitol grounds in Bacolod City on Wednesday.

The recipient hospitals are the  Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City, Cadiz District Hospital in Cadiz City, Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City, Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital in La Carlota City, Ignacio Arroyo Memorial District Hospital in Isabela, Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial Hospital in Himamaylan City, Valladolid District Hospital in  Valladolid, Eleuterio T. Decena Memorial Hospital in  Hinoba-an, and  the Merceditas Montilla District Hospital in Sipalay City.

The ambulances  were received by the hospital chiefs.*
