DOH: Neg. Occ. no longer dengue topnotcher in WV

Negros Occidental is no longer the province with the most number of dengue cases in Western Visayas.

The Department of Health 6 reported that from February 19-25, or morbidity week 8, Negros Occidental, Guimaras and Iloilo City had no new reported dengue cases.

There were 45 new dengue cases in Western Visayas for morbidity week 8 for a total of 923 cases since the start of the year or an increase by 164 percent compared to 350 cases during the same period in 2022.

The top three provinces with the highest number of newly-reported dengue cases as of morbidity week 8 were Iloilo province with – 21, Antique and Capiz – seven each, and Aklan and Bacolod City with five each, the DOH reported.

The 923 dengue cases in Western Visayas since the start of the year were in Iloilo Province – 228, Negros Occidental – 213, Aklan – 123 Antique – 97, Capiz – 85, Iloilo City – 80, Bacolod – 79 and Guimaras – 18.

Negros Occidental and Bacolod City have recorded one dengue death each.*
