DOH downgrades Bacolod from moderate to low risk

The Department of Health on Monday, May 17, downgraded Bacolod City’s COVID-19 risk classification from moderate to low risk.

Dr. Bea Camille Natalaray, in a DOH “Isyung Bakuna” online briefing on the COVID-19 situation in the Western Visayas Monday, said the daily COVID-19 attack rates in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City have dropped leading to both areas being classified as low risk.

She said Bacolod’s daily COVID-19 attack rate of 11.36 percent from April 20 to May 3 dropped to 6.39 percent from May 4 to 17.

Negros Occidental’s daily COVID-19 attack rate of 6.53 percent from April 20 to May 3 dropped to 2.67 percent from May 4 to 17.

Negros Occidental last week was also classified as low risk.

Western Visayas’ overall daily attack rate also dropped placing the region in the low risk category.

Guimaras was classified as high risk, Aklan, Iloilo province and Iloilo City – moderate, and Negros Occidental, Bacolod, Antique and Capiz – low risk, Natalaray said.

She said overall the number of COVID-19 cases in Western Visayas has been decreasing.

Western Visayas has had 41,081 COVID-19 cases since March last year with 34,514 recoveries, 1,003 deaths and 5,554 active cases, the DOH reported Monday.
