The Department of Health (DOH) is allocating ₱80 million to improve and equip the Bago City Hospital following an agreement signed in Dumaguete City on Wednesday, October 28.
The funding, released under the Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) Fiscal Year 2025 CONAP Project, will be transferred directly to the Bago City government for procurement and execution alongside additional Quick Response Fund (QRF) allocations meant for disaster-resiliency repairs.
Bago City Mayor Mayette Javellana joined DOH – Negros Island Region Center for Health Development (DOH NIR CHD) officials, led by Officer-in-Charge Assistant Regional Director Adrian Hort Ramos, for the ceremonial signing.
According to the DOH NIR CHD, the critical calamity repairs using the QRF will fortify Bago City Hospital against future natural disasters, while the ₱80-million HFEP fund will drive the acquisition of advanced medical tools for healthcare personnel.
During the same event, Javellana also accepted the official DOH License to Operate (LTO) for the Barangay Ma-ao Primary Care Facility.
“Together, we secured a safer, healthier tomorrow through this powerful dual milestone,” the DOH NIR CHD said in a statement, emphasizing that bringing licensed medical resources to the grassroots level helps overcome geographic barriers for local residents.
Javellana thanked the DOH for its continued assistance to the city government, underscoring that the dual achievements will significantly bolster Bago’s local healthcare system.*
