The Domingo Lacson National High School softball team was named champion of the DepEd – Province of Negros Occidental Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) 18 and under Softball Tournament held April 4-7, in Bacolod City.
Placing 2nd was the Ramon Torres National High School, followed by Bacolod City National High School – 3rd place, and Brgy. E Lopez National High School – 4th place, a Capitol press release said.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson led the awarding ceremony held at the Bacolod City National High School, together with Provincial Sports Coordinator, Anthony Agustin, DepEd representatives and the Palarong Pambansa Secretariat, on Thursday, April 7.
The champion team received P15,000 cash, 1st runner up – P10,000, 2nd runner up – P7,000 and the 4th runner up – P4,000.
Special Awards were also given to players.
Janin Pajotal of BCNHS was awarded as Best Hitter, Best Slugger and Most Number of Home Runs; Anne Frensbelle Patricio also of BCNHS was awarded with the most RBI’s and Most Number of Stolen Bases; while Mary Joy Alpitche also of BCNHS was named Best Pitcher.
The sport event is a Palarong Pambansa continuity plan, pilot face to face sports competition sponsored by the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental in cooperation with DepEd and ASAPHIL, which is also in preparation for the Palarong Pambansa 2023, the press release said.
It is also aimed at developing future champions which will represent the province in national and international competitions, it added.*
