More than 1,500 relief packs consisting of rice, loaf bread, canned goods, packs of noodles and bottles of water were distributed to heavily affected flood victims in various lowland barangays in Silay City this week.
It can be recalled that residents greeted the New Year with floods. Also hit were the cities of Talisay and Victorias.
In a concerted effort, headed by Board Member and Silay City councilor Ryan Gamboa, together with Councilors Denden Velez, Max Javelona and Lyndon Bernardo, through their Share-A-Meal program, the team immediately responded that dreadful morning with hot meals and food for the flood victims.
The packing and distribution of food items were also made possible through the effort of the Share-A-Meal Team, which has since been very busy during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Gamboa, who is also president of the Philippine Councilors League-Negros Occidental Federation, thanked Governor Eugenio Lacson for the donations coming from the provincial government. Also to Third District Congressman Kiko Benitez, former congressman Albee Benitez, Silay City Mayor Mark Golez, Silay City Water District and other private individuals, who either sent some goods and/or cash.*PR
