Dismissed policewoman nabbed in Sagay buy-bust

A former police officer who was dismissed from the service for grave neglect of duty was arrested in a buy-bust operation that yielded P306,000 worth of suspected shabu in Brgy. Poblacion 2, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, Wednesday night, Sept. 10

The police identified the suspect as “Tata,” 30, single, and a resident of Brgy. Old Sagay.

She had been dismissed from the Philippine National Police on Oct. 31, 2023, for Grave Neglect of Duty after being marked absent without official leave (AWOL).

Operatives of the Sagay City Police Station arrested the suspect around 11 p.m. after she sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer.

Recovered from her were six more sachets of suspected shabu, a .45 caliber pistol with a magazine and five live rounds, and P1,000 marked money.

The confiscated drugs weighed about 45 grams.

The suspect is now detained at the Sagay Police Station and faces charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, as well as illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region said in a statement that the arrest is part of its intensified campaign against illegal drugs and its commitment to dismantle drug networks in Negros.*
