Dengue cases still rising, 151.8% increase in Negros

Dengue cases in Western Visayas have hit 12,198 with 24 deaths, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Thursday, August 22.

This is a 142 percent increase from last year’s 5,036 cases, the DOH said.

Negros Occidental had 2,408 dengue cases with six deaths as of August 17, Dr. Girlie Pinongan, Negros Occidental Provincial Health Offer, also said.

That is an increase by 151.88 percent or 1,452 cases more compared to the same period last year, she said.

There were 602 dengue cases in Bacolod City and three deaths this year, the City Health Office also reported.*
