Former Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development assistant secretary Lea Delfinado is a successful civil servant who rose through the ranks and is equipped with the knowledge and experience to make an outstanding representative of the 4th District of Negros Occidental, Lisa Cojuangco-Cruz said on Sunday, Sept. 29.

Cojuangco-Cruz and Claudia Cojuangco handed Delfinado her Nationalist People’s Coalition Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance as a 4th District congressional candidate at the NPC headquarters in Quezon City on Friday.

“We are happy to endorse the bid of Lea Napagao Delfinado for the congressional seat of the 4th district of Negros Occidental. Lea was part of the team of my brother, former Rep. Charlie Cojuangco, which did his infrastructure program,” Cojuangco-Cruz said.

Delfinado previously served as a Department of Public Works and Highways district and later regional head.

“We trust that she will continue Charlie’s vision for the district not only in terms of infrastructure but in the other aspects of development as well,” Cojuangco-Cruz said.

Charlie Cojuangco, who passed away in 2022, served as congressman of the 4th District of Negros Occidental for three terms.

He and Cojuangco-Cruz are the children of the late Ambassador Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco who founded the NPC.

Claudia Cojuangco is the daughter of Charlie Cojuangco.

Delfinado will be running against Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, National Unity Party member and United Negros Alliance president, for 4th District representative.

On Friday he said he has no reaction to the Cojuangcos support for Delfinado.*
