A vehicular accident in Barangay Prosperidad, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday, January 5, claimed the lives of three family members, including a baby boy.

The fatalities were identified as 29-year-old Jomar Jirasol, his wife Angeline Jirasol, 19, and their 2-month-old baby boy of Barangay Codcod.

Angeline Jirasol’s 10-year-old brother was also injured.

Captain Roger Pama, deputy police chief of the San Carlos City Police Station, said the victims were onboard a motorcycle when it was rear-ended by a water tanker truck driven by Mikill Galgo, 24, of Sipalay City.

The truck driver was going to overtake the motorcycle but lost control of the wheel after it malfunctioned, Pama said.

The three victims died on the spot after they were pinned under the truck, while the 10-year-old boy suffered minor injuries after he was thrown off the motorcycle.

The truck driver, who was detained at the police station, and his helper were unscathed.*
