Cops seize P340K in shabu, arrest 18-year-old suspect

A high-value target was arrested and about P340,000 worth of suspected shabu was confiscated in a buy-bust operation at Purok Rosas Pandan, Brgy. Banago, Bacolod City, on Tuesday, Sept. 30.

The suspect, alias “Nene,” 18, unemployed and a resident of the area, was placed under surveillance after police received information from an informant about his alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.

During the operation, the suspect allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur-buyer.

Sixteen more sachets of the substance were recovered, along with the buy-bust money and other non-drug items.

The police said the total haul weighed about 50 grams with a standard drug price of P340,000.

The seized drugs were submitted for laboratory examination, while the suspect is detained at Police Station 3 and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

PRO NIR Regional Director, PBGen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, said the arrest highlights their continued efforts to dismantle drug networks in the region, stressing that community cooperation is vital in keeping Negros Island safe and drug-free.*
