Cops nab suspects in fatal Santa Catalina shooting

The police arrested the suspects behind the shooting of a couple in Santa Catalina following a hot pursuit operation in Barangay Buntis, Bacong, Negros Oriental, on Thursday, Oct. 16

The operation was carried out through the joint efforts of the Santa Catalina and Bacong police stations, SWAT, Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO), and the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU-NOrPPO).

The pursuit led to the capture of the suspects believed responsible for the shooting that claimed the life of a Santa Catalina resident, the NOrPPO said.

The police said a 58-year-old man was killed while his wife was injured after they were shot by the suspects on Tuesday night, Oct. 14.

The couple, who were both business persons, were shot while they were going home.

Police also seized multiple firearms, ammunition, and cellular phones from the suspects.

Authorities continue to investigate the case to determine the motive and possible connections of the arrested suspects to other criminal activities, the NOrPPO said.*
