Cops nab suspect in rape-slay of Bacolod call center agent

Six months after the killing of a Bacolod call center agent, police have arrested the primary suspect in the rape and homicide case that drew public outrage earlier this year.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group–Negros Island Region (CIDG-NIR) confirmed the arrest of Neil Jalando-on, a taxi driver and resident of Purok Caingin, Brgy. III, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental, on Thursday, July 24.

Jalando-on was apprehended by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Branch 53 of the Regional Trial Court in Bacolod City on July 7 for rape with homicide.

No bail was recommended.

He was listed as the No. 3 Most Wanted Person at the provincial level in the Negros Island Region.

Jalando-on was tagged as the suspect in the rape and killing of Carl Kimberlyn Degabi, a 31-year-old call center agent from Eroreco Subdivision, Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod City.

Her body was discovered in a sugarcane field in Hacienda Nilo Lizares, Brgy. Matab-ang, Talisay City, on Jan. 12.*
