Bacolod City Police Station 5 cops destroyed 280 open pipe noise-causing mufflers using a vibro roller in Brgy. Granada, on Tuesday morning, September 5.
The mufflers were destroyed at the diversion road in Brgy. Granada in compliance with City Ordinance 356 or “An Ordinance Regulating Noise Pollution in the City of Bacolod”.
Maj. Joery Puerto, Station 5 acting commander, said the activity aims to send a message to the public that motorcycles with open pipe mufflers are not allowed and will be confiscated, especially within the vicinity of their police station.
Puerto said that they are intensifying the enforcement of the city ordinance as well as Republic Act 4136 or the Land Transportation Traffic Code that stipulates conditions for using mufflers.
“This activity aims to give a strong impression to the general public not to modify nor to buy this kind of muffler as it may cause noise pollution in the area,” he said.
The destruction of confiscated mufflers was led by Puerto and Brgy. Granada Capt. Alfredo Talimodao Jr.*
