The police arrested a fisherman for the death of a jobless man at Purok 1, Hacienda, Paco, Barangay Aguisan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, on Saturday, February 22.
Alias “Danny”, 43, was arrested for shooting alias “Julius”, the police reported.
A witness said while the suspect was preparing lunch, the victim suddenly arrived in front of his house armed with a sugarcane cutter and knife and challenged him to a fight.
The suspect then went inside his room and took his improvised firearm and shot the victim hitting him on the left side of his chest and back, the police said.
The victim was rushed to the Governor Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial Hospital in Himamaylan City but was declared dead.
The suspect is detained at the Himamaylan City police station.*
