
A policeman was killed by a motorcycle-riding gunman in Barangay Lumbangan, Mabinay, Negros Oriental, 4:50 p.m. yesterday, February 1, a police report said today, February 2.
Killed was PMSgt. Jeseden Amorganda Carriaga, 54, of the Mabinay Police Station and a resident of Barangay Interior Cabugan, Bindoy, Negros Oriental.
An initial police investigation report said the victim went to the house of Barangay Councilman Tobias Villa in Barangay Lumbangan, for a settlement with a person who owed him money.
When the policeman was about to leave on his motorcycle, suddenly two motorcycle-riding suspects appeared from behind and one of them shot him several times on the head, the report said.
The victim was rushed to Mabinay Community Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Recovered from the crime scene were five fired cartridges of a .45 caliber pistol.*
