Completion of 400 housing units at Arao targeted before SONA

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said on Sunday, June 18, that 400 housing units under the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) program at the Arao relocation site in Barangay Vista Alegre, Bacolod City, are expected to be completed before the second State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on July 24.

Benitez said he was informed by the developer of the expected date of completion of the two four-story buildings with 400 housing units in Vista Alegre.

They are in a more advance stage of completion than the other 4PH projects in other parts of the county, he said.

The 400 housing units are part of the 10,000 targeted under Bacolod’s Yuhum housing program.

“We are planning to expand the Yuhum housing program to many other sites. This will be scattered all over Bacolod City so that the beneficiaries will not be forced to live in just one area. They will have the option to decide where they want to live,” Benitez said.

The city government has a joint venture agreement with WRS Holdings Inc. and Scheirman Construction Consolidated Inc. that is investing P2 billion for the development of mixed-use human settlement projects in Vista Alegre and other parts of the city.

Benitez said he was meeting with the president and would update him on the progress of the housing program in Bacolod.

Housing for indigent Filipinos is crucial to the success of the Marcos administration, he said.*
