Commission on Population opens NIR office in Bacolod

The Commission on Population and Development (CPD) inaugurated its Negros Island Region (NIR) office in Bacolod City on Wednesday, March 11, marking a key step in bringing population-centered services closer to the newly formed administrative region.

The office located at the 2nd East 4 Building on Burgos St. Extension, Brgy. Villamonte, complies with Republic Act No. 12000, which mandates national government agencies to set up regional hubs within the NIR.

The new facility is designed to serve as a central hub for the implementation of the Philippine Population and Development Plan of Action 2023-2028 (PPD POA 2023-2028), a CPD NIR press release said.

It aims to provide technical assistance, capacity development, and strategic guidance to local government units (LGUs) and partner organizations, it said.

During the inauguration ceremony, CPD NIR Regional Director Bruce N. Ragas said the is new office “represents our dedication to bringing CPD’s programs closer to institutions and communities”.*
