The Commission on Elections removed a truckload of illegal campaign materials during a senatorial campaign sortie in Bacolod City on Friday, Feb. 21.

A forklift was utilized by Comelec Bacolod staff to take down illegally posted campaign materials in street posts along Lacson Street in Bacolod City.

The Oplan Baklas was conducted in time for the senatorial campaign sortie of Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas in Victorias City, Negros Occidental.

Bacolod Election Officer Revo Sorbito stressed that photos were taken and sent to representatives of senatorial and party list candidates prior to the operation to notify them of their violations.

The truckload of confiscated illegal campaign materials will temporarily be stored at the Comelec compound.

Comelec will send the inventory of confiscated tarpaulines and posters to the Comelec Main Office for filing of charges against earing candidates, Sorbito added.

Joining the Oplan Baklas operation were members of the Bacolod Police and the Department of Public Works and Highways.*
