Comelec: Foul weather won’t halt COC filing

The filing of COCs in Bacolod City is at Robinsons Place*

Foul weather will not halt the filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will continue accepting COCs until Saturday despite the Typhoon Goring induced heavy rains, Provincial Election Supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria said on Tuesday, August 29.

Bacolod election officer Kathrina Trinio-Caña said 1,197 Bacolod bets filed their COCs on Monday and Tuesday.

There were 837 COCs filed Monday and 360 on Tuesday, she said.

Ananoria said 8,030 Negros Occidental bets filed their COCs on Monday.

He said 507 barangay captain bets provincewide filed their COCs, 385 of whom were male and 122 females.

There were 4,255 who filed COCs for barangay kagawad, 2,939 of whom were male and 1,322 were female, he also said.

He said for 505 bets for SK chairperson filed their COCs, 294 of whom were male and 213 female.

Those who filed COCs for SK member were 2,763 of which 1,422 were male and 1,344 were female.

Ananoria said while there were a lot who filed their COCs on Monday, there were fewer on Tuesday.

The Comelec Office located next to the BAYS Center in Bacolod was again flooded by heavy rain on Monday.

The Bacolod Comelec has been accepting COCs for the BSKE at Robinsons Place Bacolod.*
