The Bacolod City Legal Office (CLO) on Friday, July 11, issued a 10-day notice to vacate to persons occupying illegal structures along the Circumferential Road in Barangay Mandalagan.
The move comes after an inspection revealed several unauthorized vending and residential setups on the public sidewalk, a press release from the Bacolod City Communications Office (BCCO) said.
City Legal Officer Karol Joseph Chiu, accompanied by his team and Executive Assistant Levy Pangue, conducted a dialog with the occupants during the inspection.
Pangue reported that eight vendors are currently utilizing the area: five are actively operating, while three have structures built but are not yet occupied.
The CLO emphasized that the sidewalk is not designated for vending or residential purposes and that occupying it is strictly prohibited. The violators were required to vacate the area within the 10-day period, starting Friday, the BCCO said.
Should the illegal structures remain after the grace period, the City Legal Office will lead a clearing operation to dismantle them, it added.*
