Classes will resume in Bacolod City and in most local government units in Negros Occidental on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Bacolod City and about 12 other local government units in Negros Occidental suspended classes due to expected heavy rains on Monday brought on by Tropical Storm Enteng and enhanced by the southwest monsoon.

On Monday night only Himamaylan City had announced that classes would remain suspended on Tuesday.

Acting Mayor El Cid Familiaran said classes at all levels will resume in Bacolod City on Tuesday with Enteng headed out of the country.

No heavy rain and flooding were reported in Negros Occidental on Monday, Irene Bel Ploteña Provincial Disaster Management Program Division (PDMPD) head, said.

There were only light to moderate rains, she said.

The Negros Occidental Emergency Operations Center remains on blue alert or on heightened monitoring for any emergency, Acting Provincial Administrator Alberto Nellas said on Monday.

Enteng is forecasted to still bring rain over the Visayas for the next three days, a Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration advisory said.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) suspended trips of Manila-bound vessels from the Bredco port in Bacolod City on Monday because of a tropical storm warning signal at their destination.

The 2GO Travel’s M/V Masigla with 389 passengers was stranded at the Bredco port, the PCG reported.

Five rolling cargoes, 145 containers, and four motorcycles were also stranded, it added.*
