Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said the city government has tapped two more contractors to hasten the construction of the 10,000 Asenso Yuhum housing units in Bacolod City.

Two of ten four-story buildings with about 100 housing units each at Arao Vista Alegre are already halfway up and are expected to be completed in October, he said Thursday, August 17.

The WRS contractor tasked with constructing the ten buildings at Arao plans to put an activity center and a swimming pool in the middle, Benitez said.

The buildings will be built on 50 percent of the 6-hectare property allotted for the housing units so that residents will have open spaces, he said.

Similar housing units will also rise at barangays Estefania and Banago and the BREDCO area, he said.

The two other contractors have been identified as ROVOCA Development Corp. and Home World.

Hopefully 5,000 of the target 10,000 housing units can be completed by next year, he said.*
