City clears Brgy 16 obstructions, restores access to SK Federation

The City Legal Office (CLO) Enforcement Unit successfully cleared approximately ten structures obstructing access to the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation Office in Barangay 16 on Tuesday morning, July 8.

The clearing operation was spearheaded by City Legal Officer Karol Joseph Chiu and Executive Assistant retired Col. Levy Pangue.

Among the structures removed was a makeshift auto repair shop, which had been blocking the entrance to the SK Federation Office, a press release from the Bacolod City Government Communications Group (BCCO) said.

The owners of the structures had been issued five-day notices prior to the operation.

Personnel from the City Engineer’s Office, Office of the Building Official (OBO), Bacolod Traffic and Transportation Management Department (BTTMD), and several barangay officials assisted in the clearing.

“With the cooperation of the concerned parties, the obstructions were dismantled peacefully, restoring safe access to the area for the youth and the community,” Pangue said.

“This is part of our ongoing effort to ensure public spaces are clear and accessible for everyone”, he said.

Pangue added that the next steps would involve coordinating with the BTTMD to clear other identified traffic obstructions in the area to ease mobility and safety for the public.

The City Legal Office and its enforcement team continue to call on the public to cooperate with clearing operations as Bacolod intensifies efforts to reclaim public spaces for the benefit of all Bacolodnons, the BCCO press release said.*
