The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group reported on Sunday, Nov. 23, that it seized four loose firearms and arrested an alleged gunrunner in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Tabugon, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

The police identified the suspect as Errol, 31, who was allegedly caught trading and delivering three .38-caliber revolvers and a homemade shotgun without any authority or license on Wednesday night, Nov. 19.

The CIDG Bacolod City Field Unit with the Kabankalan City Police Station, conducted the operation for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Guns and Ammunitions Regulations Act.

The CIDG headquarters reported that the suspect is believed to be involved in gunrunning activities in Negros Occidental.

CIDG Acting Director Brig. Gen. Robert Morico commended the CIDG Regional Field Unit–Negros Island Region and the Bacolod City Field Unit for the operation.

He said the confiscation of the firearms prevented the possible use of the weapons in crimes.

CIDG said it will continue its campaign against loose firearms and criminal activities in the region.*
