CHMSU 2nd top performing school  in Civil Engineers Licensure Examination

The Carlos Hilado Memorial State University again ranked  second among the top-performing schools in the Philippines during the November 2024 Civil Engineers Licensure Examination (CELE).

CHMSU ranked second after garnering a passing rate of 91.38 percent with 53 of the 58 examinees from the university  successfully passing the exam, a press release from the university said.

“We give them challenging problems to hone their critical and analytical thinking skills,” said Engr. Grace Gerona, dean of the  College of Engineering, on how CHMSU prepares students for the CELE.

The national passing rate for CELE is 37.09 percent

While CHMSu sees the second-place national ranking as a blessing, Engr. Gerona said this achievement comes with the challenge of keeping up the performance.

“It means a lot of hard work and more resources to be able to stay relevant and produce the kind of graduates who are sufficiently equipped, not only for the licensure exam but also for the professional work after,” the college dean added.

The university is flanked by the University of the Philippines-Diliman (Rank 1) and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (Rank 3) in the roster of top-performing schools, with 50 or more examinees passed and at least 80 percent overall passing percentage.

“To our new CHMSU civil engineers, this is the reward for all your hard work and sacrifices. We are truly happy for you and your family. As you embark on your journey as professionals, we pray for the Lord’s wisdom and guidance to lead you along the way,” she said.

CHMSU previously ranked third in the top-performing schools for CELE with a passing rate of 91.7 percent.

“This failure is momentary. You, too, will soon acquire that license to practice the profession. Just hold on to your dreams and patiently wait for the Lord’s perfect timing,” Gerona said.*
