
A Chinese businessman was shot dead by his brother during a confrontation inside the compound of a construction supply firm in Brgy. Bubog, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, 11:30 a.m. Friday morning, March 7, the police said.
Jimmy , 51, shot his older brother Sunny, 59, in his office inside the compound of AU & Sons Merchandising Inc., a police report said.
The suspect arrived at the compound and after 30 minutes witnesses heard a gunshot, Lt. Col. Salvador Trono, Talisay police chief, said.
When the suspect left the office of his brother, he also shot one of Jimmy’s business partners identified only as Peter, 30, a Chinese national, on the chest.
After he shot the victims the suspect threw the 9mm Beretta he used in committing the crimes behind the office of his brother and left the compound, witnesses said.
One of the witnesses reported the incident to the police who were conducting a checkpoint nearby, which resulted in the immediate arrest of Jimmy as he was leaving the premises .
Trono said that the suspect admitted the crime.
Sunny was declared dead on arrival at the Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City due to a gunshot wound on his head while Peter was admitted for treatment.
Trono said they received reports that the suspect has a debt to his brother, but they are still investigating the motive for the shooting .
In 2023, Jimmy hit his brother due to a personal grudge and was reported to the barangay council. It was resolved that Jimmy would not be allowed to enter the compound and witnesses said he had not been in the area for sometime.
Jimmy will be facing homicide and frustrated homicide charges, the police said.*
