A police officer assigned in Cebu and his companion were arrested in a buy-bust operation against loose firearms in Brgy. Robles, La Castellana, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
Police identified the suspects as Pat. Daing Gimay, 31, of the Cebu City Police Office’s City Mobile Force Company, and Niño Napoleon Colmenares Ligason, 31, a resident of La Castellana.
Authorities said the two were caught selling loose firearms in an entrapment operation conducted by the CIDG-NIR Regional Field Unit with the support of the La Castellana Municipal Police Station.
Recovered from the suspects were a KG-9 submachine pistol with no serial number, a magazine, 15 sachets of live ammunition, a Gersan 9mm pistol with another magazine, five 9mm rounds, a Toyota Vios, and marked boodle money worth P22,900.
The suspects were brought to La Castellana Police Station before being turned over to CIDG-NIR for documentation and proper disposition.
Charges for violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act are being prepared against them, the police said.*
