Cauayan Mayor John Rey Tabujara called allegations “false and harmful” after his probable opponent for the mayoral position posted that they have received threats because of their political plans.
In a statement posted on the Facebook page of the Municipality of Cauayan, Tabujara said such actions undermine the integrity of public service and are unacceptable.
Aside from Tabujara’s statement, the post also included screenshots of the posts from Jurry Nabaja which stated that they have postponed the filing of their certificates of candidacy as they have received multiple threats.
“To all our supporters, we opted to delay our COC filing yet today, as we received multiple threats that may occur during our filing”, Nabaja’s Facebook post stated, adding “The whole team Bangon Cauayan is humbly asking your prayer to be with us this time”.
Earlier, Nabaja announced that he will run against Tabujara in the mayoralty position in Cauayan.
Meanwhile, Tabujara debunked these statements from Nabaja as he claimed that Cauayan has experienced “a remarkable period of stability and peace” in the past six years sitting as a mayor.
“We are committed to fostering a respectful environment for all our employees and will not tolerate attacks that seem to discredit their dedication and loyalty”, Tabujara’s statement added.*
