City mayors appeal to Malacañang for advance payment authority
The League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP), headed by its president Bacolod City Mayor Evelio, is appealing to the Office of President Rodrigo Duterte to issue an executive order authorizing city mayors to make advance payments for the COVID-19 vaccines contracted by city governments.The LCP adopted Resolution No. 2021-01 containing this appeal, during its Special General Assembly on February 4.“We need the intervention of President Rodrigo Duterte to pursue our availment of the vaccines. 7 Neg. Occ. LGUs now COVID-free
There are now seven local government units in Negros Occidental that are COVID-free with La Carlota City joining the list, a Provincial Incident Management Team (PIMT) report as of Monday, January 4, showed.The other COVID-free LGUs are the towns of Candoni, Salvador Benedicto, EB Magalona, Ilog and Pulupandan, and Sipalay City.The number of COVID-19 active cases in Negros Occidental also dropped from 152 on Sunday to 135 on Monday, the PIMT said.San Carlos City remained with the highest number of active cases at 27, the PIMT report added.Meanwhile, there are two new COVID-19 cases in Negros occidental and five in Bacolod City today, January 5, the Department of Health reported.*
