Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Wednesday, March 18.Domestic tourism will be affected with less people traveling because of the rise in fuel prices, he said.For example fewer people will be driving up to Don Salvador Benedicto on weekends, he said.Lacson also said there could be a drop in attendees from out of town at the Panaad sa Negros Festival, which is scheduled to run from April 13 to 19.Despite these concerns, the governor expects that Bacolod residents will still flock to the festival in large numbers.*

Six persons were injured after a motorcycle and a tricycle collided head-on along A.E. Marañon Street, Barangay Poblacion 2, Sagay City, on Monday night, March 16.Police investigation showed the Rusi motorcycle driver identified only as alias “Beltran,” 20, a resident of Barangay Rizal, reportedly lost control while heading toward Sagay proper.The motorcycle then collided with an oncoming tricycle driven by alias “Rene,” 45, a resident of Barangay Poblacion 2.The police said the tricycle was carrying four student passengers at the time of the incident.Both drivers and the passengers sustained injuries due to the impact.Further investigation is ongoing.*

A 56-year-old man was stabbed to death during a wedding celebration in Brgy. Quintin Remo, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, early Wednesday, March 18.Police identified the victim as a laborer and the suspect as alias “Geri” of Brgy. Quintin Remo.The Moises Padilla police said the victim was dancing at the celebration when the suspect, allegedly under the influence of liquor, suddenly arrived and stabbed him in the chest with a bladed weapon.The victim was rushed to the municipal health infirmary and later referred to Ignacio Lacson Arroyo Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Isabela where he was declared dead.The suspect fled after the incident.*
