The Negros Occidental provincial government will mark the 126th Cinco de Noviembre by honoring outstanding taxpayers at rites at the Provincial Capitol Park and Lagoon in Bacolod City at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5.
Nov. 5 is a special non-working holiday in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City.
The 10 outstanding individual taxpayers to be honored Tuesday are Herminio Maravilla, Patrick Miguel Montilla, Vicky Lim, Francisco Manalo, Elena Corral, Gerard Baldevia, Garry Acuña, Dr. Ramon B. Gustilo, Mildred San Martin and Teodoro Suatengco.
The 10 outstanding corporate taxpayers to be honored are the Binalbagan-Isabela Sugar Company Inc., Victorias Milling Co. Inc., Tanduay Distillers Inc., Manapla Sun Power Development, Asian Alcohol Corp., New Foundland Agri Co. Inc., Philippine Spring Water Resources, Northern Negros Electric Cooperative, Philippine National Bank and Hesperus Agri and Development Co. Et. Al.
Neil Solomon Locsin of the Negros Occidental Historical Council Inc. will give a historical background on the celebration of Cinco de Noviembre during the program.
Cinco de Noviembre is a celebration of the 1898 Negrenses revolt that led to the surrender of the Spanish colonial rulers in Negros and the birth of the Negros Republic.
Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer will also deliver messages.*
