The Negros Occidental provincial government will start distributing P91 million from the National Housing Authority to the victims of Typhoon “Odette” next week, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Thursday, February 10.
Lacson said that cash assistance of P5, 000 per family will be distributed to typhoon victims who have not received any assistance yet. The priority recipients will be those who lost their homes, he said.
The distribution will be done based on lists provided by local government units, to avoid duplication of assistance, he said.
Lacson led the distribution of GI sheets, food packs and banana seedlings worth P15 million to 3,979 residents of Cauayan town on Thursday, February 10.
The Provincial Health Office also conducted a COVID-19 vaccination drive at the Cauayan distribution sites on Thursday.
Candoni Mayor John Rey Tabujara said 75 to 85 percent of the electricity in his town has been restored.
The municipal government has also distributed P64 million in financial assistance from the local and national government to the typhoon victims of Cauayan, Tabujara said.
The provincial government will also distribute assistance to typhoon victims in Candoni, and the fifth district next, Lacson said.*
