Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Monday, Feb. 23, that he signed the Deed of Donation for an 8.6-hectare property in Brgy. Talaptap, La Castellana, to be used as a relocation site for the town’s displaced residents.

The property was purchased by the provincial government for P15.6 million.

The property was donated by the provincial government to the La Castellana municipal government, and he is leaving it to the town officials to decide how to best utilize it, Lacson said.

The property will be used specifically as a permanent relocation site for residents affected by Kanlaon Volcano’s unrest, particularly those who have not been allowed to return to their homes within the permanent danger zone, he said.

The municipality can seek help from the national government for the development of the property, he added.*
