The Negros Occidental provincial government Christmas party for its employees at the Capitol Lagoon and Park in Bacolod City on Friday, Dec. 13, has been scaled down in the light of the Kanlaon Volcano eruption that has caused close to 13,000 Negrenses to evacuate.
The party is being held along with the switching on of the Christmas lights at the park and the birthday of Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, who will turn 65.
The governor said his birthday wish is for Kanlaon Volcano to calm down and for the evacuees to celebrate Christmas in their homes.
Lacson said they are doing away with the band and the fireworks at the Christmas party, but will continue with the dinner and the mini show competition among the government employees.
The governor is also expected to announce the amount for the additional bonuses of the provincial government employees at the party.*
