
Negrense athletes who won medals in the recently concluded Palarong Pambansa 2025 in Ilocos Norte received P1.3 million in cash incentives from the Negros Occidental provincial government on Thursday, June 5.
Athletes who established new records in various sporting events also received additional cash rewards.
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Department of Education Negros Island Region Director Dr. Ramir Uytico and OIC Assistant Regional Director Anthony Liobet led the incentive distribution at the Social Hall of the Capitol in Bacolod City.
Each gold medalist received ₱10,000 per medal, while silver and bronze medalists were awarded ₱7,000 and ₱4,000. respectively.
Negrense athletes won 18 gold, 20 silver, and 21 bronze medals.
Among the record breakers was Miko Villaran of the Romanito Maravilla National High School in Bacolod who won golds in the 400-meter hurdles and 110-meter hurdles.
Javelin throw gold medalist Christine Rose Toquero of Binaguiohan Elementary School in Escalante City was also a record breaker .
Other gold medalists are Maxene Hayley T. Uy, Aehro Jeush F. Tibus, Nxy Aezryel J. Gonzales, King Mckenzi A. Pelimiano, Rian B. Ambino, Rogen C. Basio, Clarence A. Castor, Josh Jabana, Justine P. Lauriquez, Jester Kenth D. Mabansag, Joshua O. Mucho, Adrian L. Posadas, Kent Andrew P. Santillan, Christian P. Sumatra, John Rex N. Valderueda, and Emmanuel I. Sevilleno,
Coaches and trainers of the medalists were also granted cash incentives.
The Palarong Pambansa was held in Ilocos Norte from May 24 to 31, with Western Visayas placing third.
Negros Occidental will be part of the NIR delegation in the next Palarong Pambansa.*
