The Guinness World Record plaque recognizing the “Manok ni Cano Gwapo Tan” at Campuestohan Highland Resort in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, as the largest building in the shape of a chicken will be unveiled on Saturday morning, October 19.
The formal declaration of the chicken building as the largest in the world will be held at Campuestohan Highland Resort 10 a.m. Saturday after a mass, Tan said.
This will be an icon of Negros Occidental and the whole world, he said, pointing out that of 55,000 applicants worldwide for inclusion in the Guinness World Records this year only 5,000 were approved.
The Guinness World Records plaque states that “The largest building in the shape of a chicken measures 34.931 m (114 feet 7 inches ) in height, 12.127 m (39 ft 9 in) in width and 28.172 m (92 ft 5 in) in length and was achieved by Ricardo Cano Gwapo Tan at Campuestohan Highland Resort in Negros Occidental, Philippines, as verified on 8 September 2024”.
Tan said it took 456 days to build the chicken building that has 15 rooms for guests and a viewing deck.
A surveyor had to be brought in from Manila to measure the chicken for the Guinness World Records, Tan said.
Tan said he decided to build a giant chicken to honor the fighting cock industry of Negros Occidental.
Tan is also aiming for another Guinness World Record with the building of the longest “chasing slide” at his resort.
The longest in the world is 123 meters and his will be 150 meters, he said.*
