All 31 jail personnel and 23 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) who underwent random drug tests at the Canlaon City Jail yielded negative results, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency- Negros Island Region (PDEA-NIR) reported.
The tests were conducted following a search and seizure operation inside the jail on Tuesday, July 29, as part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to keep custodial facilities drug-free, a PDEA press release said.
No illegal drugs were found during the operation, which was conducted by PDEA Negros Oriental Provincial Office (NORPO) and PDEA NIR-SIU personnel, in coordination with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Canlaon led by Jail Inspector Irynn P. Benarao-Olasiman.
PDEA-NIR said the successful operation affirms the jail’s commitment to a clean and secure environment for rehabilitation and reform.
“This is a strong indicator that our custodial facilities are on the right track in the fight against illegal drugs,” PDEA said in a statement, adding that regular operations and tests will continue.*
