Call to sign petition for Cha-cha not a TUPAD condition: DOLE

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Western Visayas reiterated on Monday, January 15, that the signing a petition in support of Charter change is not condition for availing of its Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD)’ program.

A text message has been circulating in several barangays in Bacolod City calling on TUPAD beneficiaries availing of their payouts to bring with them their petitions for Charter change.

It says those without Charter Change petition forms can avail of them from the barangay hall. Each form should have 10 signatories, the text message said.

The Westen Visayas DOLE reiterated the statement of Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma that his department is not being used to push for the amendment of the 1987 Constitution.

Taculing Barangay Captain Lady Gles Pallen, Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas – Bacolod president, could not be reached for comment on the matter.*
