Cadiz’s dried fish sold out at Negros Trade Fair

The highly sought-after dried fish (uga) from Cadiz City was once again a hit at this year’s Negros Trade Fair.

The city’s entire stock of dried fish was sold out generating revenue of more than P600,000 during the trade fair at the SMX Convention Center Aura in Taguig City from September 23-28, a press release from Cadiz City said on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

This isn’t the first time Cadiz has achieved a historic sell-out. The initial success occurred during the 2022 Negros Trade Fair at the Glorietta Mall 2 in Makati City. Three years later, they did it again.

Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante, Jr. said the sell-out boosted not just the income, but also the morale of their local small and medium entrepreneurs of his city.

Since these impressive trade fair successes, Cadiz has earned the well-deserved title of “Uga Capital” of Negros Occidental, the press release said.*
